Dearest Ann--

I came across your site today and took some time looking at all your new work and old. I love it! While in your class I discovered you, Andy Goldsworthy and a new love of art in nature... I absolutely love your work with the transformed horns, wasps nest mandala, seven wonders, books, etc!

I also spent some time on the Lifeline page and...felt a pang in my chest and tears rise in my eyes. Remembering you that summer and how generous you were to me through all your pain, I only wish I could have helped more. You were and are so strong. The exhibition was a beautiful and loving tribute and it's so wonderful to see it live on here online.

Seeing the boxes, flags and knots again made that summer come to life in my memory! I saw you in my mind's eye constructing them, all the photos, small toys and wooden boxes spread out on the table...I still think the snakes are my favorite! Working with the soil (wherever I go now I look at the beautiful color of the soil and think of you!), learning knots, cutting that tough rope! And of course relaxing after a long day with a glass of Frangelico. ;) It's still my favorite drink! When I went to Italy, learning about Fra Angelico only made it sweeter.

Thank you for your guidance and support in my college years; for helping me get involved with PCAP and giving me the opportunity to work with you. You offered me more than any other person at U of M and helped shape who I am.

Many thanks and the very best to you and your family-- with much love and sending the positive vibes your way--

web site is good memorial for a life that ended too soon. Our two sons have loved climbing and have been given many mountains. We do love the NEEDLES in Dakota.
Sincerely,
Ann

Dear Ann,

I'm Joseph Chung, remember me? I took your RC class in 1999. I absolutely loved your class. I remember your stories about Dhani Jones(he absolutely remembers you!), your old slides, tool shape collages, and etc.

I'm who I'm because of your class. I'm a jr art director learning to be a brand creative. Your class was my 1st love, without your class I would've been somebody else.

I still make woodlath sculptures whenever I have a time. You loved my work and encouraged me to keep doing what i've been doing. I believe it was 2002, when I came to your office and asked for a recommendation and you gladly wrote me a letter. It meant alot to me.

Ann, I'm glad that I found this website. Your art will inspire many people, and I will spread the story of Patrick and the courageous mom, Ann.

Love,
Joseph Chung

To the Savageau Family:

I went to Greenhills a couple years behind Pat. While cant say we had a significant relationship/friendship, I do recall thinking he was a pretty nice guy. I'm still very sorry for your loss. To be absent in the body is truly to be present with the Lord.

Sincerely,
Anthony

My dear Ann,
I just read your year-end letter from last year
(Dec. 2007) -- again (!), but more carefully this
time (and saw the website address). I can't
believe I missed the opportunity to visit this
beautiful website for six whole months! I was so
moved -- so moved -- by the memorial to Patrick.
I miss you all in my life very much. I am moving
from Pittsburgh to Syracuse, New York (for a
position at Syracuse University). While I am
happy with/for the job, it seems that I am moving
even further away from you and Mike, and from
my own hankering for warmer climes. The website
is a treasure. It feels like a direct link to you. You
are always building bridges, making it possible for
those of us who have been gone too long to come
"home" again to your warmth and friendship.
Thanks for giving us a portal to Patrick as well,
and sharing with us a mother's love and ultimate
refuge. I am looking forward to re-connect ...
Cecilia

It was wonderful to see you and Uncle Mike last week at the latest reunion. I've felt so much pain over your loss of Patrick over the years. I'm sure the memorial as an amazing tribute was cathartic, but with such a special child, I know that the pain must be ongoing. My heart goes out to you and my dear uncle.

I am so happy that my kids favorite subjects include art and that they also have the adventurous spirit of cousin Patrick. Interestingly, my autistic child is also fearless and loves climbing!

Thanks for your wisdom over the years. Your beautiful website is eyeopening and inspiring.

Love Linda

Seeing the pictures of Pat brought back a lot of good memories for me. This website is such a nice way to honor him.

Dear Ann: Janice led me to your web site. I was totally in awe of all the art you have done, the honors, and international travel & studies. What a talent God gave you. And as I sit here with tears coming down my face when I read your tribute to your son who died at such an early age, I have great memories of you all on Scully Road & on into Ann Arbor and even your visit to our house in Ft. Collins. Lost you for a while there, but happy to have a chance to say "Hello.".... I have started painting again & am happy with my work and have just finished a painting from a photo taken from our front deck at Scully toward our red barn up by the road on a full moon, snow laden yard & pasture. I am happy with the results & it just brought a tug at the heart of our wonderful memories there when our kids were growing up, watching you have your sons & a "daughter." Memories of our horses galloping across the pasture. Wow, how lucky we were.
Love to you & your family. Marge

Hello,
It's been a long time since I last heard about you in Michigan. I was reading a newsletter from the Residential College and saw your name, which prompted me to do a search for you and I found this very sad news. My thoughts and prayers to your family. I remember playing in the old white barn, babysitting for Mark when he was little....enjoying the countryside there in Dexter. You were great neighbors who took care of me and Diane when we were little! I know my Mom enjoyed sharing artistic ideas with you. I'm sad to read of your loss. Your memorial here is so beautiful. I feel I can follow the spirit!
Love, Janice
